Time
The doors will open at 8:30 for set-up and the workshops will begin promptly at 9:00. Lunch times vary by instructor, but you should plan on sometime between 12:00 and 1:00. You may bring your lunch and eat at your workspace. Workshops generally end sometime between 4:00 and 5:00.
Obviously, you may come and go as you please; the above schedule is for the instructor and facility.

Facility
DAL doesn’t have its own facility and we appreciate the opportunity to use space provided by others who want to support art. Please help us keep the space clean so we can be invited back:
Don’t pour dirty water or clean out your brushes in the sink – it can clog the drain. Use a bucket and empty it outside.
Do bring drop cloths for the tables and floor so we can keep the carpet clean.
Do bring your own paper towels.
Do bring a plastic bag for trash and take it to the dumpster after the workshop.
Usually, it is alright to leave your workstation set up overnight, but you should take anything you care about home with you at the end of the day. DAL, the instructor, and the facility are NOT responsible for your possessions.

Supplies
In addition to the supplies listed by the instructor, please bring the following (Note: Obviously, some of these supplies are media-specific. For instance, you don’t need a water container if you are painting in oils or drawing in charcoal.):
Board and tape (to put your paper on)
Paper or canvas (If the instructor doesn’t specify size, it is easier to finish an 11 X 14 painting than it is to finish an 18 x 24. On the other hand, don’t make it so small that you can’t see what you are doing.)
Water container
Paper towels and trash bags for clean up.
Plastic covers for table and floor.
Palette
Drawing pad for sketches and notes
Pencil and eraser
Photos for reference (in case you don’t want to copy the instructor)
An assortment of brushes (size does matter – generally, you should paint with the largest brush you can handle given the size of your painting); include a toothbrush for spatter techniques
Good quality paints. It is better to have a few good paints than a bunch of student grade. For any workshop, you can use what you have, but if you are a beginner, you will find your life is MUCH easier if you have exactly the paints the instructor recommends – that way you can follow along and won’t have to fight the mixing process.
Note: If paints come from different manufacturers, they may not be the same color, even if they have the same name. For example, Burnt Sienna is a different color (in fact, it is made with different pigments) if it is from Windsor & Newton instead of M. Graham.
